If you going back to the gym is stressing you out, here are some basic guidelines that you can follow to make sure your fitness regime does not unnecessarily expose you to the new corona virus.
The Dubai Health Authority issued guidelines on its social media channels for gym operators as well as customers to follow:
The hygiene and social distancing guidelines were issued to curb the spread of COVID-19.
According to the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) and Dubai Economic Department (DED), gyms in Dubai are allowed to operate at 50% capacity.
Each Emirates has issued regulations on the maximum number of people allowed in gyms, if they have reopened, and need to adhere to.
DHA guidelines for gym operators, DHA issued the following advisory to service providers:
1. Follow the official guidelines when it comes to the number of customers and ages allowed.
2. Provide clear precautionary and educational material across the gym.
3. Disinfect the gym and machines regularly and after each use if needed.
4. Provide sanitizers across the gym.
5. Keep gym machines at least 2 meters apart to ensure physical distancing.
6. Close areas where people gather like changing rooms, saunas and Jacuzzis.
7. Make sure employees and customers have no symptoms. It is advised to take their temperature before they enter the gym.
DHA Guidelines for Customers:
1. Stay at home if you have any symptoms.
2. Practice social distancing at all times.
3. Bring your own towel and water bottle and don’t share it with others.
4. Follow all precautionary measures like not touching surfaces and regularly sanitizing hands after touching any surface.
5. Follow precautionary measures for safe home entry when you go back home after gym.
6. Stay up-to-date with the latest guidelines and rules.
Before take a trip, it is advisable to speak with your local gym to find out what the limit on the number of people is and the best time to visit, to avoid big crowds.
